Appearance 'key in job interviews'

First impressions are always important when attending job interviews, it has been asserted.

According to NewsChannel5.com, firms currently hiring staff in the difficult economic climate can offer advice on how candidates should prevent themselves.

Troy Horner with Peabody Shoe Repair told the news provider: "The most important thing I can think of is appearance. I want somebody who is dressed nice, looks decent, has their pants in the right place, their hair cut decent."

Rodney Mitchell with the Rodney Mitchell Salon added that a pleasant way of relating with people is important, going on to say that first impressions are particularly important.

Elizabeth Gorodesky with Village Bridals emphasised that someone with a nice smile makes a memorable impact.

Last week, staffing service the Creative Group claimed unusual or unanticipated references can often lead to the offer of employment being withdrawn from jobseekers and cited the example of one referee who said a hopeful candidate was prone to falling asleep during work hours.
