Sales jobs: 90.6% of female leavers are changing companies

New figures show 90.6 per cent of staff turnover among women is due to females applying for new positions such as sales jobs.

Figures published by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and CELRE has found that the number of women leaving or changing their jobs is at 4.3 per cent, the lowest level in five years.

Ruth Spellman, chief executive of the CMI, warns that problems such as the glass ceiling are still in place.

She says that employers are currently offering equal pay rises, but that this should not be mistaken for reducing the pay gap.

"It appears that the glass ceiling remains in place and has been reinforced with concrete. If the focus remains on yearly increases, the arrival of pay parity will never occur," she asserts.

In other news, the government has announced it will do more to help support people with mental issues to remain in the workplace.
